We headed out of the EAAF Nature Reserve, and crossed the border into San Pedro de Atacama, Chile on Saturday morning. After a few nights of roughing it in minus temperatures and sleeping bags, we were looking forward to some sun and comfort in the desert!
The day after the salt flats, we woke up and did our best from getting any salt on our stuff when getting ready and leaving (I failed…I had a nice amount of salt on pretty much everything I was wearing!).
After leaving the city on Thursday, our first stop was at a local tourist site where old locomotives had been left to rot just outside Uyuni. Our driver called it ‘The Locomotive Cemetery’!

We left La Paz on Wednesday afternoon to head to the airport, and after experiencing La Paz traffic on the way into the city, we didn’t expect anything less to be stuck in even more traffic this time round. The reason for the traffic however, was a bit different this time round..
Having said our goodbyes to Peru on Monday, we continued our South American adventure onto Bolivia, beginning with La Paz.
Hello everyone! Once again it’s been a busy week. We got to Puno in the south of Peru last Saturday after a long day’s bus travel from Cusco, travelling for about twelve hours in total. Luckily, the buses here so far have been so good, with this one having reclining seats and Lord of the Rings for entertainment!
